Conclusion
Even in regions where Catholicism was later suppressed, small groups of ardent converts remained in nearly all the places that had been evangelized. Oftentimes, the natives were victims of mistreatment by Europeans, usually as a result of the belief that European religion and culture was superior. Though many of the missions later died out, the legacy of the missionaries remain in the Americas, where many of the Spanish missions still stand, and China, where Matteo Ricci introduced European inventions, mathematics, cartography, and literature.
